Show Rex Berry Named to Hall of Fame Rex Berry, son of former Moabites, the late Carl Berry and Leah Somerville Berry, Helper, Help-er, was oinciany indoctrinated indoc-trinated into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame Wednesday. The former Football star at Brigham Young University, and with the San Francisco 49ers, was honored at the fourth Hall of Fame banquet of the Utah Chapter of the Old Time Athletes Assn., held in Salt Lake City. Berry was born in Moab, but his family later moved to Price, where he was known as the "Carbon Comet, starring in football, baseball and track. He attended Carbon Junior College for a year and then BVU, where he was an all-conference halfback half-back for three years and football captain. Married to the former Helen Brimhall of Provo. he is now an official with Columbia Geneva Division of U.S. Steel, I and also a -talent scout v for the 49ers. v His son, Doug, was a football all-American in the NAI A, playing for Southern Utah State. |
