Show Agreement May be Close Interior Dept. officials and utility companies behind be-hind the proposed Kai-parowits Kai-parowits power plant may be nearing a general gen-eral agreement on a new site for the plan in southern south-ern Utah, Sen. Wallace F. Bennett, K-Utah, said today to-day . The senior senator said he was told by Interior In-terior Dept. sources that the consortium of power companies seeking to build the plant are exploring ex-ploring possible new sites north and west of the original site location loca-tion on Nipple Bench, about ab-out 15 miles from Lake Powell. The original site was turned down for environmental envir-onmental reasons by Interior In-terior Secy. Rogers C.B. Morton because of its nearness to the Glen Canyon National Recreation Recrea-tion Area and the Navajo Nava-jo power plant near Page, Ariz. |
