L .... . : V.. . ... 3 Thompson Body & Glass wrecker pulls demolished car up over river embankment after wreck Monday. Two High School Juniors escaped serious injury in the accident. Wreck on River Road Injures Youths An accident occurred during the noon hour Nov. 5, and two Moab youths serious injury after their car went out of control, skidding more than 200 feet over an embankment on Kane Creek Rd., landing land-ing in the water at the edge of the Colorado River. Ri-ver. David Hopkins, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hopkins, was driving-fhe family car, a 1972 Dodge, Dod-ge, with David Maki, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Way- ne Maki, a passenger. He was driving south on Kane Creek Rd. when he lost control of the vehicle, ve-hicle, skidding about 115 feet before going over a 20 to 25 foot dropoff-angling another approximately ap-proximately 90 feet before be-fore coming to rest at the edge of the water. Students in another vehicle ve-hicle took the two to the hospital, where they were treated and released. releas-ed. The fact that they were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident ac-cident is thought to have prevented more serious injuries. The vehicle was totally demolished. Sheriff W.H. Bowman was notified from the hospital and investigated the accident. No citation has yet been issued. |
