Show Wilderness Group Official Speaks To Moab C of C Members Tuesday Special guest speaker at the Tuesday luncheon of the Moab Chamber of Commerce was Ward Roy-lance Roy-lance of the Enchanted Wildreness Assn., a group which was organized to promote the geologic and scenic wonders of the Colorado Co-lorado Plateau which covers, cov-ers, roughly, the Four Corners area. The organization is a non-profit corporation controlled con-trolled by the members who are promoting travel and recreation in the area. They plan to begin a magazine, ma-gazine, start a national advertising program, and initiate other group action to meet these goals. The magazine would be publshed six times per year and would deal not only with the scenery to be found in this area but with geological features, ghost towns, industry, etc. A minimum of space would be devoted to advertising extent for a special travel edition which would be published once a year. Membership in the organization or-ganization would include a subscription to the magazine ma-gazine and would include travel advisory service, group prices for tours and other travel services, a reading list of 500 important im-portant books and articles on the Enchanted Wilderness, Wilder-ness, catalogs of books, maps and other publications. publica-tions. Other chamber business included the introduction of Judy Wood who will be assisting Secretary Betty Jacobs at the Chamber office. of-fice. Miss Wood will, after learning about operations, be on hand to keep the office of-fice open for additional hours, including Saturdays. Satur-days. The Directors met last week to discuss plans for the information center and proposed costs include $33,200 for the information center, $12,800 for the arch, $20,0A0 for a protective protec-tive covering for the arch, $8,400 for architects' fees, and $4,000 for site work. Costs for interior decorating decorat-ing were not available. No action was taken by the group. |
