One of the most significant wells drilled in Utah in a dorado is being tested in Rich County. The American Quasar Petroleum Petro-leum Company's No. 20 1 Hog back Kidgo apparent gas discovery dis-covery southeast of Hear Lake is reported by Petroleum Information Corporation to have flowed some nine million cubic feet of gas per day on tests from the I'ermiam formation. for-mation. Testing is underway at the remote well where earlier gas flowed at a rate of more than 15 million cubic foot a day. A second well is being drilled, the No. 28 1 Hogback Ridge which is currently cur-rently below 4.800 feet. The wells are some 12 miles north of Randolph. 70 miles north of Iineview oil field in Summit County, and about 40 miles northwest of the Ryckman Creek field near Evanston. American Quasar, very active in Utah, just recently completed com-pleted a 1,530 barrel of oil per day discovery well three miles southwest of Pineview field. Additional drilling in the vicinity vi-cinity is planned and should be started shortly. Meanwhile, just northwest of the Utah-Wyoming state line, north of Highway 80 near Wahsatch, Amoco Production Pro-duction is drilling a projected 14,700 foot well at the No. 1 Thomas Canyon. The wildcat, just started, will have surface casing set below 450 feet. Amoco also announces a new well location to be drilled seven miles north of the town of Oakley and, has reported that it has abandoned a test well about 11 miles east of Pineview field. Plans for a deep, approxi- . mately 10,000 foot, remote i wildcat well in Millard County, Utah are disclosed by Argonaut Energy, Amarillo, Texas and Cominco American j Company of Spokane, Wash- : ington. The well is to be i i drilled about 11 miles north-northeast north-northeast of the town of Hinckley. The companies say that it is possible that a second deep well will also be drilled in the vicinity. Plans call for work to start by November 1. Mr. Stowe reports that General Crude Oil, Snyder, Texas, will drill an exploratory explora-tory well on the east side of the town of Jensen, Uintah County. The No. 6-21 Jensen will go to about 2,650 feet. Closest oil production is three and a half miles to the west in the Ashley Valley field. In the extreme southern portion of Uintah County, Taiga Energy Company announces plans to drill a 5,150 foot well at the No. 1 Rat Hole Canyon, 12 miles north of the nearest production. The town of Cisco is about 44 miles to the south. |
