Show Twenty-One Green River High i Students Visit Legislature (. j Twenty-one students from Green River High School and their faculty sponsors sat in on Utah Legislature in motion Monday, and became be-came the first high school from the district to visit the Senate in over four years. The school group was met in the Capitol Rotunda by the Hostess of the House, and escorted in to m-et their district Representative. Ed Drake, of Moab. He explained ex-plained the intricacies of legislative process, and the students watched the Llouse conduct the day's business. An official welcome was given by the Speaker of the House, and the visit of the Green River High School students recorded in the minutes of the day's activities. activi-ties. They watched parliamentary parlia-mentary procedure in one of its finest forms; formal debate de-bate from the floor, and all the process of making a bill law. Hearty Welcome The students visited the Senate chambers, where they were greeted by Senator Samuel J. Taylor, of Moab. The Senate gave the group a hearty welcome, and ap- plauded as they stood up , to be recognized by the Senate Sen-ate President. Senator Taylor noted that j . i the Green tavei -was the first High school group to visit the Senate in over four years. The Senate activities impressed im-pressed the students, as haa the House, with the seriousness serious-ness on the part of the legislators leg-islators performing their duties. They appeared to be not only well qualified for their positions, but to have the interest of the people at heart.
