Show "Cleanup -Paintup- Fixup" Community Campaign Theme; Begins March 18th A community Cleanup Campaign will get underway under-way in Moab on March 18th, a timely date. The following Easter weekend the first deluge of visitors is expected expect-ed the arrive when the tourist tour-ist season kicks off with the first annual Moalb Jeep Safari. Saf-ari. Theme of the beautifica-tion beautifica-tion project is "Cleanup-Paintup-Fixup". Ron Phillips Phil-lips and Wesley Oliver will co-chairman the effort, and have challenged every organization or-ganization and citizen of Moab Mo-ab to help. The possibilities of the project are unlimited. The winter has taken its toll, leaving in its wake litter, dead trees and shrubs, peeling peel-ing paint, and ugliness. Subdivisions are chal lenged to an unofficial contest, each vying for top rating when a summary of improvements is made. 'Clubs and organizations are asked to volunteer services ser-vices as a group. "Choose your own project," Mr. Phillips and Mr. Oliver suggest, sug-gest, and notify the Cleanup Clean-up Committee of intentions. Women's groups might concentrate con-centrate on planting programs pro-grams to improve visitor's first impression of the City. Youth groups could volunteer volunte-er painting services with supplies provided! by property pro-perty owners unable to do the work themselves. And there are endless mediums demanding the services of men's Clubs and organizations. organiza-tions. ; Clean-up Lots One of the most common eyesores of the city are vacant va-cant lots. Owners are requested re-quested to see that they are burned off, stripped of dead trees, and otherwise made presentable. Lots not cared for during cleanup days vn'. be cleaned by the city, and owners billed for the expense. ex-pense. The Cleanup program will be a year-round! effort, the cleanup chairman notes. All ordinances will be strictly enforced. During the official cleanup' weeks city equipment equip-ment will be made available to haul trash, tree cuttings, and unsightly abandoned cars away upon request. The Clean-up - Paintup-Fixup Paintup-Fixup campaign will be given giv-en a boost by local merchants, mer-chants, who will offer paint and other cleaning supplies at bargin prices during the official cleanup weeks. Offer Services The Cleanup kickoff will get underway on Saturday, March 18th; a secdnd cleanup clean-up day is scheduled for April 1st.
