Show POSTAL NOT PLANNING A TELEPHONE SYSTEM E. W. Hammer, one of the original stockholder of the Utah Independent Telephone company, which was pur-cussed pur-cussed bv the Bell company last Monday, Mon-day, ha annouueed that, lie will, head svndicata for the establishment in the intennountain states of an automatic telephone system, and that the work will commence juet as soon as the necessary neces-sary franchises can be secured. In discussing dis-cussing the new system Mr.. Hammer said that a feature "would be immediate connection with Man Francisco and intermediate in-termediate points over the long distance lines of the Postal Telegraph ( able company, with exclusive use of all of W. C. Black, superintendent of the western division of the Postal Telegraph and Cable company, stated this morning morn-ing that as far as he knew it wa not the intention of that company to enter the ' local telephone field. Mr. Black said that the company now had a long distance wir from this city to tsn Francisco which is working in. excellent 'style. He said that it might be that the proposed new company wa figuring figur-ing on leasing this wire, which would give it a splendid start ia the long distance dis-tance field. " . |
