Show ANDREW TELLS HIS REASON fOR ASSAULT David H. Andrew, steward of the Alta club, who pounced upon W. A. Wallace, a laborer. In Richards street Tuesday morning morn-ing and pounded Wallace severely, called at police headquarters today at the request re-quest of Acting Chief Richard L. Shannon, and had a brief interview with Wallaca, who is still In a call In tha city jail. At the conclusion of the Interview, Andrew An-drew waa closeted for some time with Acting Act-ing Chief Shannon, and explained the causes that led to the beating of Wallace. Wal-lace. Andrew said that he had seen Wallace Wal-lace taking llherttea with a little girl, and that he had tried to catch Wallace at that time, but failed. He met Wal'ace In Richards street, and was so thoroughly enraged that he gave htm a thorough "It tmflr4na'-',l4rY hrs ftea. w , a -' - Wallace Is satd to be amenable to a charge of attempt, but the parents of the little girl object to the publicity that would follow the filing of u-h a complaint, com-plaint, even though Wallace would plead guilty, and for this season no complaint was filed. Wallace, after the brief conversation with Andrew and Acting Chief Shannon, agreed to plead guilty to a charge of assault as-sault and battery In police court tomorrow morning. A sentence of six months In the county Jail will he Imposed. |
