Thirteen attempted robberies robber-ies within forty-eight hours have been reported. s The intended victims of the robberies and attempted safe cracking are as follows: fol-lows: The Prudential Insurance com-psnv. com-psnv. the I'tah Fireproof eqmpanv and Dr. W. 8. Winner : in the Herald building; the office of the , Halt Lake Brewing company and that of the North American Insurance com- j panv in the D. F. Walker building; the office of the Colorado National Life As surance companv in the Walker bank i building; the blacksmith shop of William Wil-liam White at 731 South State street, the Wasatch drug store at the corner of j Third East and Second South streets, and the meat and grocery store of Albert Al-bert Smith at Eleventh South and State street. All of these places were entered withis the forty-eight hours ending shortly after 9 o'clock last night. 'Take Only Pennies. At Smith's store entrance was gained bv breaking a panel in the door. The thieves carried sway between $rj and $7 in pennies from a box. The store is also a I'nited States siib-postoffiee. Nothing belonging to the Government was taken by the thieves, though a large anx iuit of stxrrns was within rajv reach. The Smith store was entered about a voir ago and fhe safe blown open. The police dragnet has been thrown out and the officers instructed to arrest j every suspicious character. Within the j last thirty srx hours nearly twenty men have been arrested by the police and j taken to the station charged with va j grancv. Two of the number were ar I rested by Patrolman Bert Seager in a ' Commercial street saloon shortly after 4 o'clock this morning. The men ga e J their names as Eugene Murphy and Tom Adams. Roth were arraigned before I Judge piehl this morning and told their i little tale of having worked at a nutn ber of places in Salt Lake 'itv in the last two weeks. One Robber's Threat.
