Show THE JAMESTOWN EXPOSITION. We think the Legislature should appropriate money enough to make at least a respectable mineral min-eral exhibit at the Jamestown exposition. We think the leading mines of hf State could well afford to gather up a superb exhibit and send a man East to put it in form and explain its wonders to visitors. There will probably be at that exposition professors from every university and college east of the Mississippi. Mis-sissippi. To them such an exhibit would be a feast. A million business men will be there, and many of them will be anxious to learn all they can about mines. There will be thousands of foreigners from the schools and financial centers of the Old World who will eagerly examine such a display, if they have the opportunity. Then it is due to the State of Virginia that every State shall make a handsome showing there. The freedom of our country dates from the first landing of Europeans on our Eastern coast; the three most notable being Plymouth Rock. Manhattan Manhat-tan island and Jamestown. More of that spirit which, while giving man freedom, holds him personally per-sonally responsible for his acts, came from Jamestown James-town than from either of the others. Moreover, the men of the North and the West should go in force to Jamestown if for no other reason than to take those people by the; hand ami call them brothers. Who will move in the matter? |
