More than five hundred strong, the Elks of Salt Lake lodge, accompanied by their wives and friends, will leave at the witching hour of 11 o'clock tonight for eight days of pleasure in southern California. The trip will be one hilarious hurrah from the time the train pulls out tonight until the herd returns. The lateness of the hour will not prevent the many friends of the excursionists from seeing them off and quite a demonstration is expected. In California extensive preparations are being made for the entertainment of the Elks. The first ovation will be received at Riverside, where the train will be met with carnages and the guests be taken for a whirl over the city and about the famous orange groves. The Chamber of Commerce of San Ber-fiardino Ber-fiardino will welcome the tourists to that city, and a rous-;png rous-;png reception wiU be given in Los Angeles, a city noted for its hospitalitv. One of the finest trains ever made up in Salt Lae City will carry the Elka to their destination over the Salt Lake Route. The second section, which follows the first In fifteen minutes, will be made op of ten Pullmans, a baggage car, a chair car and two diners. There was some talk of coupling a water wagon on behind each section, but this plan was abandoned, as no one cared to ride there. The two sections sec-tions will be kept together as closely as possible, in order that the herd may all arrive at practically the same time in Los Angeles. Exalted Ruler Thomas Homer and Secretary A.
