Show I Handicap of Slow Early Running Fails to Trouble Victor That waa all Challeoon needed. He responded beautifully to pull ahead once more and at the finish he was gaining with every bound. Challedon won despite the fact that the race was not run the way he likes. He is a colt who likes a 1 blistering early pace that allows 1.1m to lay back of the pace-setters until they are tired. The early running was so slow yesterday that he had to go on top at the start a position he knows nothing about and cut out the running. Arcaro gave him a per fect ride. Woolf did a nice Job on Kayak II. too, although he might possibly pos-sibly have saved his challenge until un-til a little nearer home. Had he done this, it Is Just possible that he might have caught Challedon napping and beaten him to the wire before Challedon could have roused himself. Cravat didn't belong in the race. As a matter of fact he really was not In it. Off last he solidified this position throughout and at the finish was a badly beaten horse. |
