Show First Troops Leave For Texas Training Trucks, Autos, Motorcycles, Ambulance Set Out on 1552-Mile Trip to Ft. Sam Houston "Warm up!" It was the signal to start their motors and shortly after 6 a. m. Thursday the Thirty-eighth infantry's motorized unit was headed for Fort Sam Houston, Texas, a distance of 1552' miles. A cavalcade of 60 trucks, recon-' n aiuance cars, motorcycles, passenger pas-senger cars and an ambulance, carrying 14 ofiicers and 370 men, made up the first contingent to leave Fort Douglas for the mass training ground at Fort Sam Houston. Shouts of "So long," "Good-by," "See you later," could be heard above the military music played by the Thirty-eighth infantry band as the cars rumbled past the bandstand band-stand on the main highway through the post.
