Hs sent Seattle Into a first place tie with Los Angeles In the Pacific Coast league standings today with the good old aoup bone. ' Yields Two Hits Gibson set the Seraphs down with two lona hits last night, as San Francisco won, 1-0. His control con-trol was perfect. He issued one Intentional In-tentional walk and had the Angels swinging wildly until the seventh, when Stringer got an Infield safety. Arnold Stats got the only clean hit off Sam, a single In the eighth. Fay Thomas didn't do badly for the Angels, either. He permitted only six hits three of them by Dom DiMaggio, but he cut loose with a wild pitch In the first Inning which permitted DiMaggio to score the lone run of the game. The big bat of Spencer Harris, the league's top hitter, gave Hollywood Holly-wood a 6-4 victory over Oakland. Harris got three hits one a homer with a man on base and batted in four runs. Oakland got only five safeties off Ardizoia, Darrow and Fleming, who divided the hurling duties. Ken Sheehan was the losing los-ing pitcher. Suds Share Lead Seattle swept Its three-game series se-ries by defeating Portland, 5-3, with Angel cast off Red Van Fleet being credited with the victory. Joe Morrissey homered in the fourth inning in-ning with Dick Gyselman aboard for the Rai fliers. The win put the Rai fliers in a tie for the top with the Angels. An eighth Inning splurge which scored eight runs gave San Diego a 15-6 victory over Sacramento. The Shniks blasted out 19 hits, including includ-ing a brace of doubles by Griffiths, and coupled them with six errora, three by Garibaldi. |
