Show Youth Holds Sway During Hectic Day Holiday Throngs Swell Attendance With Record Expected at Close Tonight Utah's leaders of tomorrow learned its greatness of today Saturday Sat-urday In closing hours of the fifty-seventh annual state fair. Thousands of boys and girls bearing tickets supplied them by The Salt Lake Telegram 'and Tribune thronged the grounds from early morning, swelling the holiday crowds streaming past the exhibits, watching demonstrations and seeking relaxation on the midway. Entertainment feature of the day was provided by the annual first aid contest sponsored by the Utah-Nevada Utah-Nevada Safety society In the coll- seum as part of Its annual meet Paid admissions to ths fair totaled to-taled 75,000 shortly after tha gates opened Saturday and it was expected ex-pected the total would be 100.000 or better before th last lights were extinguished and tha 1937 fair closed late Saturday or In tha we hours Sunday. Saturday morning marked close of the snnual statewide Boy Scout camporal. Nearly 5O0 boys hsd camped on the center lawn of the grounds since Thursday afternoon. Climax of their atsy wss presentation presen-tation of tha "Cavalcade of Scout-.ig." Scout-.ig." a program of novel atunts which lured a large crowd to the coliseum Friday evening. Judging of the dog ahow continued contin-ued Saturday afternoon and will close at 7:30 p. m. with aelection of the best brace and best dog at the show. |
