Show 1 Green Maps Finish Fight Against Lewis and CIO A. F. of L. President Takes Over Command in War to Crush Rival Group DENVER, Oct. 2 (INS) A ruthless war to crush John L. Lewis and his C. I. O. was launched here today by the American Fedora- tion of Labor. William Green, federation president presi-dent stepped sggressively into per-sonsl per-sonsl command, said the A. F. of L., will carry the fight Into the enemy's csmp. and doesn't intend to be hem. pered by too msny niceties. Orders were issued specifically for a coaat-to-coaat federation organisation or-ganisation drive, centering directly the 10 C. L O. unlona now under suspension. There is little doubt that this request will be granted. Then, the council will meet and throw out John Lewis' own union, the United Mine Workers, snd probably prob-ably the Amalgamated Clothing Workers, headed by Lewis' right-hand right-hand man, Sidney Hlllman. on tha C. I. O.'a four major atrong-holds atrong-holds ths automobile, steel, rubber and glass Industries. This development sounded the death knell of half a dosen peace plana brought to this city by various vari-ous A. F. of L. convention dels-gates. dels-gates. Coupled with the organization drive was a swseping purge to rid federation ranks of all those favorable favor-able to Lewis and his C. I. O, State federationa reported leaning toward Lewis, notably Colorado, Pennsylvania Pennsyl-vania and Weat Virginia, soon will have tha choice of swinging into line with Green and the federation, or submitting to a oomplete shakeup which will put loyal A.
