Show Utahns Are Pleated IN THE SELECTION of William Jeffert to tuc-ceed tuc-ceed Carl R. Gray a president of the Union Pacific, Utah, with good reason, has occasion to be pleated and happy. No "outsider" ever wa a better friend of thi state than Mr. Gray, a friendship which he translated into many meaningful mean-ingful project to the great gain of Utah. President Presi-dent Jeffert, many time a visitor to the ttate, to ita acenic and recreational areat and a man thoroughly familiar with itt business, industrial and agricultural problem and transportation need, often ha evidenced equal interest in this region. Mr. Jeffert was a call boy for the Union Pacific Pa-cific a a boy of 14 year. He wa the son of a shop worker. Ambition and hard work over a period of 47 yean in the service of the same company com-pany 1 now culminated in his assuming the highest office within the gift of the railroad. Saturday evening in Omaha a mammoth dinner expected to be attended by 7500 U. P. employet and their families will pay him honor. Among them will be a large delegation of the Union Pacific Old Timert club from here. Utah dwellen not attending thit unutual gathering in the flesh will be there in spirit to assure him of best wishes for a happy and satisfying satis-fying tenure in hi new post of responsibility and to congratulate him on attaining the high objective long desired and richly earned. |
