Cotton, former president of the eastern states mission, asserted as-serted he couldn't subscribe to the doctrine that Christianity has failed. "Christianity has not failed." he said. "People have failed to live up to It. God doesn't fall. Whatever What-ever failing comes Is due tn the fact we are not accepting Christianity." Chris-tianity." Nicholas G. Smith, former president presi-dent of the California mission, said: "We could have done 71 per cent more work than waa done -during the month of August in the Salt Lake City temple. Thomas E. Lyon, f&rmer president of the Netherlsnds mission, said there is a "different attitude abroad now." Saints, he reported, are paying pay-ing their tithes and faat offerings, James M. Kirkham, former president presi-dent of the east central states mission, mis-sion, reported it is progressing. "People are looking to us," he said. "We must not fail in our great security plan project." |
