Show Proponent of Air Base For Rockies Visits Here Californian Believes U. S. Defense Unit Should Be Established but When? Next logical move in development of United States' continental continen-tal air defenses should be establishment of a Rocky mountain air base but when this will be done is problematical. Such was the opinion Friday of A. S. Dudley of Sacramento, Cal., who headed the Air Frontier De-fens De-fens association which sponsored legislation authorising creation of huge air bases. Mr. Dudley, en route home by air for the holidays from Washington, waa forced to halt briefly In Salt Lake City when his ship waa grounded because of bad weather to the west He lunched with Cue P. "Legislation to stabilize th commercial com-mercial air transport business Is necessary If the major companies are to be aaved from being forced out of busineas," aaid Mr. Dudley, who ia aecretary of the Interstate Airways committee, a citizens' organisation or-ganisation seeking early passage of the McCarran-Lee bill to put the air transport business under the interstate in-terstate commerce commission. |
