Show WATER SUPPLY ECONOMY URGED 1,i . . 5. A precipitation deficiency in nine-tenths nine-tenths of the stats prompted State Engineer T. H. Humpherya to issus an appeal Thursday for conserra-tion conserra-tion of surface and underground water supplies. Rain and snowfall baa varied widely In sections of ths state, with the northern counties receiving normal or better precipitation, while other areas have remained dry. Cache, eastern Box Elder, Weber, Davis and Salt Lake counties have received normal or better falls. Other counties hsve received lass then 50 per cent of normal rainfall, rain-fall, with Washington county reaching a low of only 25 per cent of normal, Mr. Humpherya reported. re-ported. An encouraging condition is the large amount of holdover water In the major reservoirs, which in some cases would be ample to care for irrigation though no new water comes, the engineer pointed out. |
