Jennings and son, Milton Jennings Parents Fears Allayed When Son ComesHome Newspaper Appeal, Seen in Reno, Changes Mind of Young Adventurer That open letter to Milton Jennings, 16, carried in The Telegram Wednesday accomplished its purpose Friday. Milton came back to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Jennings, and their home at 6301 Thirteenth East street became a joyful one. Milton left home just a week ago, without knowledge or con- sent of his parents. Frantic with grief, the parents appealed to The Telegram for aid and the story was printed. Milton said he saw The Telegram in Reno, Nev., where, with three young companions, he had stopped to rest en route to California and a hunt for work. "When I read that I saw how my folks felt," Milton told a Telegram reporter. "I decided things had gone far enough. "You know, I had planned to write my parents and tell them about my plans, but I didn't find the time. "Dad and ma are my pals. I didn't mean to hurt them. Gosh! I'm glad to be home for Christmas. Home is the best place, I guess." Mr. Jennings expressed his appreciation ap-preciation to The Telegram. "Now I won't have to relive the terror and worry caused when Douglas left." he said. Milton's brother, Douglas Jennings, Jen-nings, left home in just such a manner 13 years ago. Douglas. 16 at that time, has not been heard from since. The other boys who went with Milton were reported to be Joseph Shepherd, 17; John Lyman, 17, and Rulon Gregory, 17, all of Salt Lake county. |
