Battle of Wits Douglas told Mr. Warner he had hitch-hiked from the west, that his ante waa Frank Drummond and that hia father was a farmer at Idaho Falls, Idaho, and that he attended at-tended a county school having 15 pupils. Mr. Warner addressed a letter to the man Douglas named as his father. The letter came back, unclaimed. un-claimed. The superintendent then asked Douglas to name his fellow pupils. None in Idaho Falls recognised any of the namea. but officials of the state Industrial school at Ogden happened to see the pamper. ; Identity Rerealed The officials telegraphed Mr. Warner: "Every one of the boys on the list k or has been an inmate here. Suspect Sus-pect that the boy you have is Douglas Doug-las McConnell, who belongs here (oo" Mr. Warner showsd the message to Douglas and tha case was "broken." Douglas looked at the telegram, then said: "That's right You win." ' |
