Show OREGON TO HOLD WBORELECTION PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. T (UP) Governor Charles H. Martin took evsr tha work of the national labor rsiatlons board today and ordered a collective bargaining; election, supervised su-pervised by the state, in the lumber industry that has been paralyzed four months by jurisdictional fighting fight-ing between unions. The election win be neld "inurs-day "inurs-day in the Multnomah county courthouse. court-house. State and county officials will -protect the workers in heir right-to vote." Balloting will be conducted by a three-man committee, commit-tee, including the state labor commissioner, com-missioner, a delegate from the churches and one from the American Ameri-can legion. Oregon will become the first stats to hold an election for workers to choose between a Committee for Industrial Organisation and an American Federation of Labor union to represent them. That function func-tion is designated to the N L. R B by federal law. Martin aaid the N L R R had "confessed its Im potency" in this case and had "washed its hsnds of the controversy." |
