I ; 1 Becoming a Competitor A good number of our average skiers no doubt have the inclination inclina-tion to become competitive skiers. However, for some reason they do not realise this ambition. It Is not advisable for a skisr to enter too many cross-country races, particularly the newcomer. Furthermore, the skier must always al-ways be In the best physical condition con-dition for this event Cross-country racing Is unquestionably the most strenuous skiing event These races are quite often 10 mile or more, and are held over rugged courses. Jumping, slalom and downhill events also require good conditioning, but are not nearly as strenuous aa the cross-country race. While good skiing technique Is very Importsnt in this latter event it must be combined with great endurance, which is a prime factor. |
