Show Council lo Probe Vet Aid Charge j Claims that the state depart' ment of veterans affairs la wast ing public funds performing services serv-ices which are duplicated by private pri-vate agencies Thursday had been I referred to the state agency' advisory ad-visory council for Investigation. Concluding a two-hour, session at the state capital. Gov. J. Brack-en Brack-en Lee asked the council, headed by Dr. Frank H. Jonas, member of the University of Utah faculty, to sift the charges and a request of Veterans of Foreign Wars for dismissal of most of the depart-ment depart-ment of veteran affairs personnel. The charges and request were supported by the Utah unit of Disabled Dis-abled American Veterans. The American Legion, Amveta, Spanish American War Veterans and representatives of unaffiliated war veterans opposed the request and offered statements refuting the charges. "Keep In mind that the job (for veterans and their surviving dependents) de-pendents) is the important thing, not who doea the Job," Gov, Lee counseled the group. |
