Show JUNIOR COLLEGE PLANSWEIGIIED A question of constitutionality of plana of the stat committee of j nine to district th state for eatab-llahment, eatab-llahment, of junior colleges arose Thursday at a meeting of a senate committee, named to study proposals pro-posals for such school. The question concerned th constitutional con-stitutional rights to Impose local tax levies to support Junior colleges within such districts. Under th committee of nine plan, evn districts would be created, th college to be supported equally by atata funda and by district taxes upon property. Th senate commute met to determine de-termine whether th committee of nine recommendation, or part of thsen, could be incorporated In a permanent policy for junior colleges. Three measurea already nave been Introduced on th ubject. On would establish a branch of th Utah State Agricultural college at Roosevelt Roose-velt and th others would create junior colleges at Richfield and Price. While none of these blU was considered, con-sidered, the aanate committee decided de-cided to recommend paaeag of th Price college bill to third reading calendar. Another session will be held at a. m. Friday to study th bills. |
