Show SOME SHORT STORIES OF VARIOUS SPORTS The Chicago National League club will inaugurate a new system of training train-ing next season. A tour of several Western States will be made, aad games played at Los Angelea, San Francisco, Denver, Omaha and Kanas City, and perhaps Salt Lake. The representatives of the American and National leagues, who will meet in Cincinnati on January 5th, will have full power to arrange peace terms. Their action will be binding on both organizations or-ganizations and no further action will be needed to put into force whatever agreement may be reached. Lowell will add a coliseum cycle track to the circuit next season. Trenton is also an addition mentioned to the circuit. cir-cuit. Jimmy Michael Is now at Hot Springs, Herman Relmers, the German motorist. Is with him. Michael returns to Europe March 1st. Harry Elkes is visiting his father at Saratoga. Kikes will sail for Europe March 1st to fulfill his contract for three races at the Buffalo Velodrome track, Paris, In May. The excellent fighting which Matty Matthews of Brooklyn has done of late has been the means of placing his star In the ascendency. During the last month Matthews has defeated Eddie Kennedy, Owen Ziegler and Rube Ftrn3. There is some talk now of matching Matthews to meet Jack O'Brien. Dal Hawkins of California, who is at present in New York, says that after his bout with Kld-McPartland, which is to take place here In two weeks' time, he will go to Englan i. Hawkins received word that upon his arrival in London he will get a chance to box Jabez White, the English light-weight champion, cham-pion, before the National Sporting club. Abe Attell, the California featherweight, feather-weight, has been added to Young Cor-bett's Cor-bett's staff of sparring partners and trainers. Otto Sieloff of Chicago has eighteen consecutive victories to his credit. He Is now antlous to meet Joe Gans, or Jimmy Brltt. Former light-weight champion Frank Erne thinks his latest conqueror, Jimmy Jim-my Brltt, can dofeat the present champion, cham-pion, Joe Gans of Baltimore. Kid McCoy has again decided to enter the roped arena. McCoy wants to flght Jeffries, Fitzslmmons or Jack Munroe. This Is the three hundred and twenty-sixth twenty-sixth time, by actual count, that McCoy Mc-Coy has reconsidered his determination to quit the ring. Every one from Champion Jeffries down to the "has beens" and "also rans" is out with a wager that he can defeat Jack Munroe. Munroe, if he Is as good as we are led to believe, can make a very tidy piece of money by taking ta-king up a few of these defies. But If he Is not all that reports picture him to be, Mr. Munroe will be wise to lay low for a while. |
