Show TAKING TESTIMONY AGAINST HARNEY Impeachment Case of Montana Judge Is Proceeding Behind Closed Doors. HELENA. Jan. 30. At last night's session ses-sion of the House Judiciary committee, which is acting in the capacity of a grand Jury to determine whether or not District Judge E. W. Harney of Butte, who decided de-cided the famous Minnie Healy case, involving in-volving title to mining property worth in the neighborhood of $10,000,000 in favor of F. Augustus Heinze as against the Amalgamated Amal-gamated Copper company, shall be remanded re-manded to the Senate for trial under, impeachment im-peachment charges, the reading of evidence evi-dence was resumed. This consisted largely large-ly of Harney's cross-examination in the disbarment suit instituted by him against A. J. . Shores, leading counsel for the Amalgamated company, on the ground that Shores had tried to bribe him, through the person of a son of Senator W. A. Clark, .in the sum of $250,000, to decide the case against Heinse. Harney acknowledged the authenticity of thiB evidence and interposed no objection objec-tion to it being read in fulL Harney, it Is said, was the coolest man In the committee com-mittee room. . If the reading of Harney's evidence is concluded other witnesses will be heard, but the session is being held behind closed doors and their testimony will be late In becoming public.
