Show PESTHOUSE IS URGED Dr. King aid Will Barnctt Before Council Sanitation Sanita-tion Committee. Will Barnett and City Physician King appeared before the Council Com mlttees on Finance and Sanitation last night, and told that body of the conditions condi-tions prevailing, at the pesthouse, . Mr. Barnett, who was recently released, did not hesitate to express his views on the subject of erecting a suitable hospital for the victims of smallpox. There are two low buildings, one of adobe, and the other frame. The adobe, which consists of one room. Is the "women's "wo-men's ward." More patients are arriving almost daily, the disease being on the Increase, and the building would have been filled long ago had there not been a steady stream of convalescents discharged. When Mr. Barnett and Dr. King had concluded their statements, the committees com-mittees decided that a newpesthouse was badly needed. The Council was recommended rec-ommended to Instruct the health officers to select a suitable site and submit the corts of construction.- It was also recommended that $500 be set aside at once for the purchase and erection of a suitable tent for convalescents. |
