Charles Hygh, formerly employed as a farm hand on the Lemp ranch In Grass gulch, was given a preliminary hearing by Judge Herrick yesterday and bound over to the District court without ball to answer for the murder mur-der of Ling Sing, a Chinese cook on the same ranch. J. M. Graham and W. A. Graha-n. both eye-witnesses to the tragedy, testified to IvAvIng seen Hygh with, a rifle in his hands, come Into the kitchen where the Chinaman was working. Ling Sing ad- vanced to meet him. but only made a few j st-yps when Hygh, they testified, raised the ' rifle and fired. The bullet struck the Chinaman and killed him almost Instantly. When arrested Hygh claimed he fired in self-defense. |
