Show THE STEEL PROFITS. The net earnings of the steel corporation for the third quarter of the present year were $38,114,624. That was an increase of $6,874,042 over the figures for the same quarter of 1905, and for the nine months of the present year, which have now elapsed, the aggregate net for the corporation amounts to $114,874,147 against $84,571,594 in the same portion of 1905, and which more than doubles the earnings for the same time in 1904. It required the utmost ability and hard work of Dr. Franklin for two years in the Revolutionary war to borrow $10,000,000 from France. Now, a single sin-gle corporation in the United States clears more than $12,000,000 a month, with steadily increasing business. No wonder the outside world is about ready to fight when it sees the gathering power of the United States, because at the present time all other countries coun-tries are so dwarfM in comparison that it almost looks asthough it was like the case of the man in the West who always brought two turkeys home for dinner. One was for the family, and the other for himself. - Of the world's two turkeys the United States seems to have one. |
