Show EXPLOSION OP GASOLINE TANIi Cn Launch Causes Probably Fatal Injury of Engineer; the Gas Ignites From a Lantern. SAN FRANCIoCO, Nov. 12. With a report that was heard tor many blocks the gasoline tank of the launch Envoy, lying at the Howard Street wharf, exploded ex-ploded last night. Completely wrecked the little craft and probably fatally injured in-jured Roy Thompson, the engineer. .Thompson was about to take an officer offi-cer of the steamer Manchuria to that vessel, lving at Mission rock. Gas, wtioh - filled the engine-room ignited from the lantern carried by Thompson and immediately spread to the gasoline tank on the roof of the cabin. Thompson Thomp-son was blown overboard, his clothes saturated with burning gasoline.- He was terribly ' burned. His recovery is doubtful. The launch caught fi'e and while responding re-sponding to the alarm Martin Burns, a fireman, fell from bis engine and was seriously injured. |
