The future of Beck Tunnel stock is puzzling puz-zling a great many people at thia time in Salt Lake, also a few in New 'Vork. according accord-ing to reports which circulated locally Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday, to the effect that the' mine has been sold, or rather a controlling interest in the holdings. Several stories hsve been repested from time to time also during the last week, all of which atated that it was the intention of Uncle Jeete Knight to pert with a large block of this holdings if the right kind of a price were made. He wss said to have placed the minimum, at which he would conaider a transfer proposition at $2 per share. There are no foundations for these stories, however, according to the editor of the Eureka Eu-reka Reporter, published where the mine ia 1 located, and who said in hia last Saturday's issue: "This week a rumor gained circulation in Salt Lake to the effect that Jesse Knight hss set a price upon hia stock in the Beck Tunnel and that the control might paaa into other hands. The Reporter is prepared to ssy thst there is no truth in this story as Mr. Knight intends to keep his stock. It is no secret, .however, thst he hss been approached ap-proached by parties who are anzioua to get the controlling intetrest in the mine and it ia also known that he hss been offered $2 per shsre for the control of the stock. And after awhile it may transpire that there waa something real as a basis for these stories, whether Mr, Knight sella or holds. The showing that the mine ia making now is considered by shrewd investors to be equal to 30 per cent per annum on tha stock at ita present prices. A large amount of confidence in the stock as an investment has been brought to it by the disclosure of three or four years' reserves blocked out. |
