Show GARDEN CONTEST PRIZE WINNERS Boolts Are Awarded to Pupils Pu-pils of Public Schools for Growing Finest Vegetables Vegeta-bles and Flowers. r The awards weer made this morning in the public schools' competitive exhibit ex-hibit ia vegetables and flowers by a committee composed of Orson' H. Hewlett, Hew-lett, State Superintendent of Public Instruction In-struction A. C. Nelson and A. C. Mathe-son. Mathe-son. The committee awarded all the prizes, which will be books. City Superintendent Su-perintendent of Schools Christeasen decided de-cided this morning the nature of the prizes. The exhibit was held in the House of Representative's room in the county building. Al that was the beet in flowers and vegetables grown this year, by the children were on exhibition, The prize for the finest flower exhibit went to the Franklin school, although the Lincoln and Emerson schools received honorable mention. The children have grown the vegetables vege-tables during their summer vacation. Last spring the tomatoes were started at school and when the time for transplanting trans-planting them came the children took them to their own gardens. The other vegetables were raised in the same way under the guidance of the teachers. All sorts of vegetables were laid out on the desks this morning. Beets as big around as bsts were shown and pumpkins that made more than a comfortable com-fortable armful were exhibited.
