Show IN GOSSIP SN9 STORY Again the talk of nominating former Judge W. H. King on the Democratic ticket for Congress is being aroused. His friends it is believed will urge him to take the chance. j e After a life of tweaty-three weeks, under the guidance of such "angels" as Gov. Cutler, United States Marshal Spry" and other officeholders, the Bingham Bing-ham Press has died. The funeral notices no-tices in the paper were printed this week in the Bingham Bulletin, edited by Harry J. Eobinson. A meeting of the Young Men's American league of Utah was held at its headquarters, 219-220 Herald building, build-ing, last evening for the purpose of organizing and formulating plans for tbe campaign. Tha " league appointed Douglas Eodeback, A. 11. Fowler and B. E. Stebbins as the committee to draw up the constitution and by-laws. The next meeting of the league will be at 7:30 Wednesday, October 3. a meeting of the County Commissioners Commis-sioners and ' the special city election committee in the Mayor's office yesterday-it was decided to distribute the voting machines to the election judges throughout the city and county. The election -judges are to keep them where they will be on hand for the voters to get at and receive instructions in regard re-gard to their operation. The three down town precincts will have their machines at the party headquarters. In each party headquarters a machine is to be Installed. It is probable that a storeroom store-room will have to be built by the city and county for the storage of the ma chines after election. Briant S. Young, assistant secretary to the State Republican committee, is after the Republican nomination for a berth in the Legislature. Because the members of the Republican Repub-lican delegations from Gunnison and Ccuterfield refused to be dominated by the Smootite slatemakers at the Republican Re-publican county convention in Sanpete county on September 17, there was no representation from the two districts in the State convention on September 20. The Gunnison and Centerfleld delegates dele-gates bolted the convention and refused to act. Centerfleld and' Gunnison wanted the. names of Bishop Joseph Christensen and C. M. Madsen placed ia nomination for County Superintendent of Schools and County Commissioner, respectively. . This the slate bunch refused re-fused to do. The nominations were not acknowledged and the trouble followed. . At a meeting of the American State committee held yesterday afternoon in the office of State Chairman Willard F. Snyder, J. A. Wilson of Vernal was appointed committeeman from Uintah county and S. L. Page was appointed a committeeman from J'iute county. Organization Or-ganization will commence at once in Summit, Tooele, Millard, Piute, Carbon and Box Elder counties. The committee accepted tbe resignations of Vf. Moat Ferry and J. D. Wood from the finance committee and the committee was organized or-ganized as follows: Allen T. Sanford, chairman; David Keith. G. R. Cleave: land, Joseph LipjMnan.H. G. McMillan. Former Judge Joseph E. Frick will don the toga as a member of the Supreme Su-preme bench as soon as Gov. John C. Cutler returns from Idaho. The resign nation of Chief Justice George Washington Wash-ington Bartcb goes into effect on October Octo-ber 1, and it is to fill his place that the Republican nominee for the plaee will be appointed. Stirred by the abuses that have been heaped upon them by Apostle-Senator Reed Smoot and his henchmen, tbe residents resi-dents of Box Elder county have arisen to the occasion and declare that they will now think for themselves. A sign that the people are thinking for themselves them-selves is that they are organizing an American partv and a mass meeting is to be held in Brigham City on October 5 to nominate an entire county ticket. The county has felt that it has oeen imposed im-posed upon for . some time. Whenever When-ever it has attempted anything politically politi-cally the effort has been thwarted by the Smoot crowd. The general movement move-ment against "ring" rule has grown until the citizenarow declare they will overthrow Smootism in the county. The Box Elder Report of Brigham City has the following to say of the American partv movement in the county: "The voters of both parties should unite for protection. The people are sick and tired of being governed as they have been. The tact that more thsn 145 signatures have been voluntarily volun-tarily obtained to the American petition peti-tion "show that the men and women of Box Elder county have made up thoir minds to think and vote as men and women wo-men should. Those who want the honor of public office must learn that they must consider the people's interest. Other kinds have had their day, it's the people's turn now."
