Show "BAD EYE" GETS ON ROCK PILE Appears in Court Worse for Wear, and Contends That He Gets Worst of Every Deal. - ; John . (Bad - Eye) Jackson, colore, appeared before Judge Whi taker ' this morning on a charge of disturbing the peace. "Bad Eye ' had bis head done up in bandage as the result of a fight which he had last night. "Mistah" Jackson informed the court that he was not guilty of the charge. Three witnesses were sworn on -behalf of the eity, two of them being patrolmen, who testified to the charge of disturbing the peace. The third -witness, Harry Donaldson, colored, told the court how the tran-ble tran-ble started and how Jackson "got what was coming to him." The witness said that "Bad Eye" had struck a woman, and that he, the witness, had taken a picket off the fence and "soaked him one in the head." Jackson put each witness through a long cross examination, ater which he took the stand in bis own behalf. "It seem to -me dat I always git de worst of every deal. I just "haened to be down dar, but de lady dat I done hit was my lady, and you notice that she ain't here to say -anything against me. ".said Mistah Jackson. - Assistant City Attorney Daly informed in-formed the court that Jackson had been a disturbing element among the -colored e population of the city for a long time, and that "Bad Eye"" spetn his time between this' city and "Ogden, in both of which he ma known as a terror. "I think that it is time to call a bait somewhere," said Mr." Daly. The court thought so, too, and sentenced. "Bad fcye" to spend seventy-five days on the city rock pile. |
