Show ADVANCES IN WALL STREET NEW YORK. Feb. 14.-Openmg quotations quota-tions for stocks today showed some wide advances In the Industrial and minor, railroads. rail-roads. Railroad stocks participated very sparingly spar-ingly In the buoyant upshnot of certain industrials. The hesitancy of the standard stand-ard railroads soon caused realizing in the specialties, and some of them weakened decidedly. The drooping tendency In railroad rail-road stocks caused a fall in Reading to under 95. Canadian Pacific developed aggressive ag-gressive strength around 11 o'clock, and rose . The occasional strength of special stocks was offset by the selling of Reading. I which carried It down IVi. Colorado Fuel I rose nearly 2. Pere Marquette gained 3H-Consolidated 3H-Consolidated Gas lost and General Electric 1. The trading as h whole was dull. Bonds were steady at noon. The indifferent character of the morning speculation was reflected In a further marked contraction In the dealings, and scarcely any of the usually active features varied more than an eighth from the noon range of prices. The market if anything was easier. Stocks were marketed rather more freely, free-ly, and a number of the early substantial gains were canceled. The undertone was manifestly heavy, despite the temporary-sustaining temporary-sustaining effect produced by the bidding up of selected stocks. Colorado & Southern. South-ern. Hocking Valley, North American and Chicago Union Traction preferred declined de-clined 1 to 14. When Reading had fallen below 94 an active demand sprang up for Union Pa-cirtc. Pa-cirtc. which lifted it to l-l and rallied the market. Reading, Consolidated Gas and Delaware & Hudson recovered a point or more. United States Ruber rose 2-V Kansas Kan-sas City Southern 2S,. Chicago Terminal preferred 2. and St. Paul. Southern Pacific, Pa-cific, Wabash preferred and People's Gas 1. Attempts to realize on the minor steel stocks forced down Tennessee Coal 2 under Saturday, Pressed Steel Car 1 and Colorado Fuel a large fraction. Manhattan Manhat-tan lost a point. Realty 1H. Linseed preferred pre-ferred V and Hoc king Valley 1,. Prices yielded all around in sympathy, but the Pacifies came up again. The steel stocks then rallied.
