Show AMERICANS SECURE AWARDS IN BELGIUM i- . . v LIEGE. Belgium. Nov. : M. Many Americans have secured high awards at the international exposition which has Just been brought to a successful close. John 8. Sargent, the artist, receives re-ceives a gold medal of honor; W. Mace-wan, Mace-wan, Earl Marr and Eugene Vail, first medals for paintings, and P. W. Bart-let Bart-let t, a first medal for sculpture. American Ameri-can manufacturers receive 2200 gold, silver and bronze medals as well as diplomas. The following Individuals and socle-ties socle-ties receive awards for public philanthropic philan-thropic work: Miss Helen Gould, a grand prize; the American Institute for I Social Service, grand prize; the Philadelphia Phila-delphia museum, the Young Women's Christian association and the People's Institute, each a diploma of honor; the Household Research society, a silver medal; the New York Nurses Settlement Settle-ment society, the Five Points House of Industry, each a diploma and a gold medal., and the New York Salvation Army, honorable mention. Churches of New York. Philadelphia. Boston, Cincinnati, Cin-cinnati, Pittsburg, St. Louis and Jersey City also receive awards. The exposition had six million paid admissions. Many American exhibitors are shipping their exhibits to the Milan exposition. |
