Show HIGH TRIBUTE PAID TO JEWS Christian Minister Tells of Debt Owed to This People by the World. The Rev. P. A. Simpkln delivered a sermon yesterday at Phillips Congregational Congre-gational church bearing particularly on the treatment of the Jews In Russia in recent times. Speaking front the text, "I am a debtor to the Jew,'' he delivered deliv-ered a sermon which was rich in historic his-toric matter, and the speaker1 took high ground in handling the subject. "The very presence on earth," said tbe speaker, "in such r.umbers of this peculiar people of God is to be wondered won-dered at when one remembers how the mills of centuries have ground him as he wandered ihe one race of Christian history without a country." . Continuing the speakeV said: "The Christian church needs to awake not merely to the moral necessity of securing secur-ing for the Je equity and Justice In every land under the Run because he shares with us the Fatherhood of God, but must above all with clearer vision, measure that which we owe to the Jew and In a great passion of love and pity seek to discharge the debt which we ow. God and Christ and the Bible are all gifts which flowed to us through the channel of Jewish life. There is not a holy thing that touches your life that had not Us spring in Israel." Many Jewish citizens were present to listen to the address of the speaker. |
