Show ON NEPOTISM 1 T THE HE legislature of ot the state of Utah has seen fit to enact into law a theory that It is subversive of good government for elected elected elected elect elect- ed officials to appoint members of their families families fam fam- to jobs in their departments The general public in this state applauded the so-called so bill with such fervor that those public officials who attempt to circumvent the law by trading around will very likely feel the effects of their evasiveness when election comes again But while the sentiment of the electorate Is pretty well established in the state it seems to have no effect whatever in Washington where Utah's representatives in common with other senators and congressmen find findall findall all au sorts of places on the payroll for their rel Recently The Telegram published stories from Washington showing the practice Is quite prevalent and has been for so many years that nothing is thought of it Yet et if it is contrary to law in this state it would not take a wide stretch of imagination to conceive of it being quite the proper thing for this states state's representatives at Washington n acting in harmony with the laws of their state At the same time conceding the propriety ety it is not expected that any anyone one of the c congressional delegation will startle Washington Washing Washing- ton by setting a precedent along this line i jJ f |
