Show MEETING ON WEED CONTROL SET FRIDAY EVENING A Utah county weed-control meeting will be held Friday at 8 p. m., at the Spanish Fork public library, it was announced Monday by -S. R. Boswell, county agricultural agricul-tural agent. George L. Hobson, state weed control supervisor, and other representatives rep-resentatives of the ' state department depart-ment of agriculture, will be in attendance at-tendance to help work out ways and means of controlling the weed problem in the county. All agencies and farmer's organizations organ-izations concerned with this problem prob-lem are invited to attend the meeting meet-ing to help work out a co-opera- tive program, designed to control the spread of noxious weeds. In making preparation for the 1948 weed control program, Mr. Boswell said the county weed control committee has had its attention at-tention called to several conditions condi-tions which seem to be serious. They include: 1. Hay infested with white top seeds is being fed to deer on the range. 2. Straw infested with' white top seeds is being used by hunters and campers for bed material on the range. 3. Cattle and sheep traveling over the trails into the mountains also are scattering white top seeds. 4. The water course in Spanish Fork canyon is infested with white top and requests have been made about its control. |
