Show county vice chairman; Jack Swen-son, Swen-son, Spanish Fork, secretary; Lloyd Whitlock, Provo county treasurer, and Earl T. Oss, Provo, financial chairman. The approximately 500 delegates to the convention also elected 109 delegates to the state convention and seven members to the state central committee. Mitchell Melich, state senator from Grand county, in delivering the keynote address, charged that the present state administration has used the sales tax and welfare program for political purposes. In defending welfare legislation passed by the recent special session ses-sion of the legislature, he declared that if welfare roles kept growing at the present rate the state in 10' years would have 75,000 persons per-sons on such roles and they would constitute an insupportable burden on public finance. ' REPUBLICANS NAME LAWYER AS UTAH COUNTY HEAD Philip V. Christenson, Provo attorney, at-torney, was elected chairman of the Utah county Republican party at the county organizing convention conven-tion Friday night i in the labor temple. Mr. Christenson was given an interim appointment to the county chairmanship last November when George E. Collard, then chairman, was elected mayor of Provo.
