Show Record Crowd Attends Stake Conference One of (lie largest quarterly conferences held in Kolob stake convened Sunday in the Fourth ward chapel, under direction of President Ernest A. Strong. Representing the church general authorities at the various vari-ous sessions was Elder Harold B.$ Lee of the Council of Twelve Apostles, who gave faith-promoting talks at both the afternoon and morning meetings. President Strong spoke briefly in the forenoon session, as did recently re-cently returned missionaries Mrs. Vera Stokes, Floyd Anderson and Joe Salisbury. Elder Lee gave the principal address. Music for the morning meeting was furnished by the congregation, and Mrs. Evelyn Boyer rendered a vocal selection. In addition to talks by the visiting visit-ing authority and members of the stake presidency, Glen W. Sumsion and A. G. Peterson, the afternoon meeting was featured by remarks from ward bishops recently sustained. sus-tained. These include Bishop Theron S. Hall of the Seventh ward; Bishop Wilford W. Clyde, Ninth ward; Leo Crandall, Eighth ward; M. W. Bird, Third ward. During the afternoon, also, G. Ray Hales, released as bishop of the Third ward, and Glen Christen-sen Christen-sen of the Fourth ward were sustained sus-tained as new members of the stake high council. The Trekkers of the stake Primary, Pri-mary, under direction of Mrs. Evelyn Eve-lyn Boyer, furnished mUsic for the afternoon session. ' The conference was concluded with a program presented under direction of the stake M. I. A., featuring fea-turing a male chorus, directed by LaReli Johnson, in several musical numbers. |
