Show Hardy cAverett 1 Honored On 88th Birthday Hardy Averett, lifelong resident resi-dent of Springville and retired farmer and stockman, celebrated his 88th birthday Saturday. On Friday evening, a large group of relatives and friends marked the occasion with a' surprise party I given in his honor. Mr. Averett is active for his years and is often seen about town, walking the distance from his home. He was born in Springville and has made his home in this city practically his entire life. He is an enthusiastic sportsman and seldom sel-dom misses a hunting season. At an early age, Mr. Averett freighted supplies to pioneer families fam-ilies in this localiy. Later, he followed fol-lowed carpentry for many years, and also farmed and was interested interest-ed in stock raising. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Parry Averett, whom he married in October, Oc-tober, 1884, died in 1938. He makes his home with a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elva Averett. Mr. Averett has a son and a daughter, Tom Averett, and Mrs. Will Child of Springville; also 14 grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren. |
