Show AMERICA ATE MORE DURING WAR THAN BEFORE Some doubts have been heard as to whether, now that shotting war is ocer, there will be sufficient suffi-cient crops raise in the United States to feed us all and to make such forein shipments of eatables as may be decided upon. Secretary Secre-tary of Agriculture Anderson has recently observed that farm production pro-duction has never reached this high point except during the war. Then there was much to stimulate stimu-late those who tilled the soil to "do their durndest." As a matter of fact the American Amer-ican people probably were better fed during the four years of struggle strug-gle than ever before. Previously about one-third of the population were "ill-fed." Those who ate too much were a very small group possessed of more money than was good for their digestion. Now Mr. Anderson declares the farmers are ready to set the pace. In making this announcement he challenges industry to say just how much and what it is going to put on the markets. He believes be-lieves that a good economic future fu-ture will depend on full production produc-tion with its inevitable full employment em-ployment on both farms and factories. |
