Show -S" -V -V V -v v v v v -r (Paragraphs Otj Interest . . . j, Dr. and Mrs. Frederick Sorenson and daughter- Beth, and son Fred, Jr., have returned to their home in Denver, Colo., after spending the holidays with Mrs. Sorenson's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Eggert-sen. Eggert-sen. Mr. and Mrs. George Measom and three -children, Coleen, Lee and Diann, have returned to their home in Tacoma, Wash., following a visit here during the Christmas holidays , with Mrs. Measom's mother, Mrs. Jonena Fullmer. They also visited other relatives in Springville, in Spanish Fork and Salt Lake City, it being their first trip back home since 1941. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Eggertsen were holiday visitors from Denver, Colo., spending the time with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Egr gertsen, and Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Child and other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Weight and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Weight have returned from an enjoyable trip to California to see the Rose Parade and game at Pasadena, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Fry and children chil-dren were among Springville people peo-ple who witnessed the Tournament of Roses at Pasadena, Calif. They also visited Mr. Fry's sisters at Los Angeles, Calif., and spent some time with other relatives' and friends. David Fullmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Fullmer, has returned to his home here from the Army, in which he spent approximately eighteen months. He was last stationed sta-tioned at Fort Bragg, N. C, from where he received his discharge. Mrs. Thales Brown and children have been visiting during the holidays holi-days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Wiscombe, at Maple-ton. Maple-ton. Mrs.' Elizabeth N. Castleton of Burlingame, Calif., left on Thursday Thurs-day of the past week to return home after spending the holidays with her son Vernon Castleton and family here. During her stay another an-other son, John Castleton of Eureka, Eure-ka, came here to visit. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Mendenhall, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Childs, Bob Mendenhall and Miss Paula Clements Cle-ments were among Springville people who spent a few of the holidays in California, going to see the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl game. Among the many out-of-town relatives who came to Springville the past week for the funeral service serv-ice for Edwin Rowland, held on Friday, were his daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Thomas of Van Nuys, Calif. Also Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Giles, who returned re-turned Tuesday to their home in Glen's Ferry, Idaho. Ensign E. D. Jewett visited his grandmother, Mrs. Jonena Fullmer, Full-mer, during the holidays. He was home on leave from the Hawaiian Islands, having been transferred to San Diego, Calif., where he will be stationed as a student in naval aircraft A son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jewett of Salt Lake City, he is the eldest grandson of Mrs. Fullmer. Week-end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Eggertsen were Prof, and Mrs. Herbert Smith and son Richie of Logan. Dr. and Mrs. J. M. Dougall (Josephine Reynolds) and two daughters, came from Houston, Texas, to spend the holidays with their parents, Mrs. H. T. Reynolds, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. John Dougall Dou-gall and other relatives and friends. LOGAN Two students from Springville entered Utah State Agricultural College at the begin-ning,,of begin-ning,,of the winter quarter. They are Merlin J. Norton, son of Mr. J. R. Norton, and Jane Cherring-ton, Cherring-ton, daughter of Mr. A. W. Cher-rington. Cher-rington. All records in the 58-year history of USAC were broken this quarter when the cumulative total passed 4500 regularly enrolled students. stu-dents. In addition there are several sev-eral hundred "on-the-job" students taking related training at the college. col-lege. Most of these registrants are from Utah, but 36 other states are represented. Also the contingent contin-gent of foreign students is growing, grow-ing, with a score of nations represented. |
