Show LAND PATENTS IN UTAH NUMBER 200 More than 200 patents establishing estab-lishing title to land in Utah are being held at the district land office, of-fice, bureau of land management, awaiting return of final certificates certifi-cates issued by the federal government govern-ment the past several years, Scott P. Stewart, acting manager, reported re-ported t Saturday. Patents cannot be delivered to owners of the land until final certificates cer-tificates are returned to the district dis-trict land office, he said. , In many cases, : applicants presumably pre-sumably are dead and their heirs either are not interested or are not acquainted with procedure necessary neces-sary to obtain the patent, Mr. Stewart explained. Other owners, he continued, may have the erroneous idea that taxation taxa-tion of the land can be evaded if the patent is not placed on record with county recorders' offices. State tax commission is notified as soon as final certificates are issued, is-sued, he said, and consequently the property immediately is placed on tax rolls. If final certificates have been lost, the owner still may claim' the patent by filing an affidavift with the district land office. |
