Show MARCH OF DIMES DRIVE SET TO 1 BEGIN JAN. 15 The annual March of Dimes, spearhead of the fight against infantile in-fantile paralysis, will be held throughout the State of Utah and the nation January 15-30, Frank Emery, Utah state representative for the March of Dimes, announced an-nounced today. The cost of fighting polio has sky-rocketed, Mr. Emery said, in pointing out that rising prices and mounting polio incidences have placed a tremendous burden on the resources of the National Foundation Founda-tion for Infantile Paralysis, which this year celebrates their 10th anniversary an-niversary of its founding by Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The quota for the State of Utah has I been set at $155,000, with collections collec-tions to begin locally and nationally national-ly on January 15th. Boy Scouts will distribute plastic plas-tic coin collectors in various stores and schools throughout the state, and many local and statewide functions func-tions have been planned in the entertainment en-tertainment field to help meet the quota, Mr. Emery said. Mr. Emery pointed out that during dur-ing the last four years Utah has raised $263,000 from March of Dimes campaigns, and has spent twice as much in their anti-polio program, through aid from the National Foundation. 30 polio victims vic-tims ,in Utah are still hospitalized and need additional aid through March of Dimes efforts. Hundreds Hun-dreds are in need of orthopedic surgery and physiotherapy, Mr. Emery added, l"and their only help will come through the money raised in Utah by contributions Of the March of Dimes." i |
