COUNTY CANNING CROPS SCHOOL HELD IN PROVO The annual Canning Crops School sponsored by the Utah State Extension Service in co- J operation with the Canning Crops Growers' Association of Utah and the growers of Utah, began in Pro-vo. Pro-vo. Wednesday and will continue today, S. R. Boswell, Utah county agricultural agent, announced. Meetings will be held at the LDS First ward church, corner of First East and Second South, Provo. The first day discussions dealt largely with pea growing and canning can-ning problems, while the second day's sessions will have to do with tomato growing and canning, Mr. Bowell said. Topics discussed the first day included factual results of tendero-meter tendero-meter operations for 1946 and 1947, cultural practice in producing produc-ing peas for canning, pea harvesting harvest-ing equipment, recent fertilization studies on peas, pea variety studies, stud-ies, insecticides applied to canning can-ning crops, the economic outlook with details on canning crops, fertilizer fer-tilizer and cultural practices on corn, varietal studies of corn, and the posibility of mechanical corn picking.
